  1. @matt is your best bet for those questions !
  2. I just use the hosepipe, and put about 40l of water through the system from top hose then I just re connect the hoses fill up with water run till warm and going through system, drain and repeat. I kmow it's not the best as not distilled water but not had an issues yet
  3. I'm trying to move house today so if noting gets done that's why ! I didn't even know these were available I wanted coils for mine but again due to the bad reviews on the bc's I gave up, what spring rates did you go for ?
  4. Advisory on the fronts 😆 I like them alot might be the magpie in me coming out with all the shiny red bits, Good write up for anyone that's never attempted to change a shock beofre mate [emoji106] I'll see if we can chop bits of the thread out for the 'how to section' Least on these we don't have to ***** around compressing springs to be able to drop the shock out.
  5. Hello & welcome As you say it varies, classics dont really like them unless they have been accounted for in a remap, New ages seem to take to them better, don't know if that's due to being a little more advanced ecu wise, What type of dv were you looking at ? May be worth trying it and see what the outcome is, some owners say the adjustable ones are best but others run stuff the the hks with no problems
  6. I have no idea mate, presume you'd need some hardware not sure if it's stalk operated ? Then ecu connectors ?
  7. Not really the vf has more top end where as the 04 will run out of puff around 270 bhp &4.5k The vf will see bigger numbers but slower spool, if you your looking at upgrades in the future a vf34 would be a good upgrade
  8. Cruise control
  9. What flush was put through it ? Best case is Could be a different type of coolant reacting with the new stuff and turning it to goo. Ethelyne glycol/oat reaction worst case hg ? [emoji22]

There's also martin at Sheffield subaru services on century street behind the arena, myself and 4 or 5 other members use him, good prices and doesn't take the ****
  11. It's on my never ending list to do, if you take it all apart there's a diaphragm inside which would be better off being replaced instead of re used, And What ever you do don't unscrew the two Philips heads on top of the sensor without marking them 1st at least, if that goes out of alignment you'll be Tring to reset the idle forever
  12. As long as it's had regular services (oil mainly ) & don't smoke etc should be fine loads of classic owners on loads more milage than the one you viewed and still going strong, the 97/98 cars do suffer from more piston slap than other years but it's not anything to worry about
  13. Hello &welcome, @savagebulldogs is your man re the plugs etc, The cambelt should have been done at least twice more by my reckoning the official service schedual was 3 years 45k but it gradually got a bit longer as the years progressed, ie 5 years 45k 300 miles isn't too un realistic out of a tank driven sensibly, they are only small on classics though, 45l I think
  14. I like that mate, was looking for one for a classic but the ones I found looked a bit naff, didn't want to spend big money on one from the states, Did you get it here or overseas ?
  15. Hello & welcome, What model & year of forester are you looking into ?
  16. Not as exciting as sav's shiny bits, but got round to test fitting my can & bracket
  17. Knocking bottom end is no 1 concern, don't limit yourself to just looking at sti's go see as many local wrx's as you can as well that will give you more of a feel for things, what looks out of Shape and what your money will get you, you should get a nice motor with that kind of cash
  18. If you went the the whole hog and did the access tune bit you'd be able to map on the dyno with this and a laptop, but I don't know of anyone in the UK that uses these apart from gtr owners before syvecs and others became available, seen some foucs st owners talking about them too, The general consensus is the 'best way' to map subaru here is full live mapping, How much does the flash map take into account for the different ron fuel ?
  19. That's a good dilemma to have ! Both sets look superb, it's a good job that a, they are too wide for mine and b, I haven't got that kind of disposable income at the moment
  20. None taken mines an import [emoji41]

  23. No mate, been driving for a good hour and a half in stop start traffic, couple of things sprang to mind, A, it was just really hot, water was close to 100° on and off,oil was mid 90's as she'd been sat in traffic crawling for about 30 mins, it was only after i'd gone about half mile up road when temps began to come down, that it triggered, B, I read that some people had had an issue after washing with water entering scoop and causing a fault, 1st time i've ever seen it, Never get it from cold start, it felt like the waste gate was stuck open as it didn't cut so to speak, just nothing and then it all came back up. C, she just doesn't like outdoor life after being garaged for 3 years not used to the cold and throwing a wobbler or the sensor housing is damaged, Anyway reset last night, drove to work fine plugged into evoscan when o got her when for a drive, knock values were the same as any other logging session
