  1. It's relatively straight forward but a bit of a ball ache! 1. Buy plenty of WD40, plus gas or something equivalent to help cracking dem nutz... I used this stuff (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181947923794?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ) and it is cracking stuff (pun def intended) 2. Remove the turbo heatshield, there are several bolts holding this in place. Just feel all around it to find them all. Some are easier to access from underneath the car. 3. Once the heatshield is off... crack and loosen the downpipe bolts, probably be easier to remove your entire exhaust to give you plenty of room. Unbolt the downpipe from the gearbox from underneath the car, then fully remove the downpipe. 4. While under neath the car, remove the heatshields on both sides of your exhaust headers, this will give you access to the header bolts, crack them but don't remove. 5. You will need to get most of the wheel arch liner out from the drivers side to gain better access to the bottom of the up pipe bolts, crack and remove them. 6. Fully remove headers, warning... they are flippin' heavy! Or I'm weak... on or the other :D 7. Crack all of the up-pipe bolts from up top and remove, up-pipe will now be lose. You may have an EGT sensor in your current up-pipe which will be a pain to remove... or do what I did and just cut it off :D 8. Now you need to wiggle the up-pipe out from underneath, you may need to jack up that side of the engine to give you a but more room. 9. Do the reverse to fit the up-pipe... use genuine gaskets to prevent having to do this all again when cheap after market gaskets fail :D That should about cover it :D
  2. Plus I think it is usually more expensive to insure an import...
  3. Ah... didn't realise your car was the non-turbo. Not overly familiar with that airbox i'm afraid.
  4. did you make sure the other end of the air box slotted in correctly? There are grooves it slots into, then you use the clips. I've had the pipercross filter before and had no issues with it being loose
  5. Yup, that will do the trick! Once you get the error code, just google it then you will find out what your issue is
  6. Yeh you would need to take the wheel off... there will be a smaller piece of plastic with a couple of those push in clips, it will be to the right of the suspension... But it seems Stants has cleared it up saying there isn't one there anyway! If the plugs are the same as the impreza, they will be on the driver side of the engine bay, next to the airbox
  7. Oh sorry, didn't realise you were talking about a Forester! I would imagine they would be the same... If the sensor in the headers is in the same place, you will have a little access port in the wheel well on the drivers side... maybe worth having a look?
  8. Lambda in the headers just before the up-pipe... EGT sensor (temperature) in the up-pipe and another lambda in the cat pipe between the downpipe and the centre pipe
  9. Those springs are tough... so it would've taken some effort to get them that tight!!
  10. For an engine rebuild... a lot... few grand... I would change the coolant, do a few flushes.... new coolant in and see if it scums up again
  11. You might as well... it's not an expensive part and would save having to take the gearbox out if it fails in the future
  12. Fingers crossed it sorts it for you!
  13. Welcome to the club!! Fingers crossed your head gasket isn't on it's way out... When was the coolant last changed? Could just be the header tank deteriorating and making a mess of your coolant

    Dealer Woes

They didn't even do that?!? I would be kicking off big time... make an official complaint!
  15. This the one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/01-06-subaru-impreza-sti-wrx-AVCs-cam-position-sensor-22056aa091-legacy-forester-/282147644605?hash=item41b14f64bd:g:~dAAAOSwjVVVpR7r

    Dealer Woes

They should have at least washed it...
  17. That would really depend on what's needing fixed...
  18. It's a cracking looking car... would be a shame if you have to sell it!
  19. One lucky dog!
  20. Where are you located? Someone on here probably knows a garage local to you that knows a thing or two about scoobys.
  21. Welcome to the club! You say it's not seen a main dealer in 25k, i assume someone else has serviced it since then? I'm sure someone else will answer your other questions... I have no clue about auto boxes :D

    Dealer Woes

I would certainly kick up a stink for something so basic... I would try and get a free service out of them for next year. Are they at least going to clean up your engine bay?
  23. It should burn off after a few days... but i would maybe have a look, could be your rocker cover gasket leaking. They are prone to going, especially on the drivers side due to heat from the exhaust
  24. That is pretty mocket!!
