  1. Wotcha and welcome. I have the same model with slightly less miles but do not have any of the symptoms you describe. As a cheap option you could try an ECU reset - this helped the auto gear change on mine and also smoothed out the revs - I did this because I was running on super unleaded petrol and wanted to force the ecu to recognize that. There is a cooling mod mostly aimed at the turbo models due to teh increased pressure and heat but it is simple enough to make up a kit yourself. https://www.iagperformance.com/GDT-Cylinder-4-Chamber-Cooling-System-WRX-STI-p/gdt-1005.htm https://www.blingstrom.com/modmonday-sti/2019/3/17/getadomtune-cylinder-4-cooling-mod-showing-cylinder-4-that-you-still-care Alternate fittings
  2. Wotcha and welcome - Some very interesting motors there, big fan of the Datsun, 240 being my personal fave. Feel free to get stuck in, post photos etc all friendly on here. Any plans for the hawk, mods etc?
  3. Thanks for sharing useful to know 👍
  4. Give these guys a phone call - normally really helpful
  5. Wotcha and welcome - very nice 👍
  6. I use PIAA wipers - does not hold the muck like Rain ex but still means water beads and runs off. Prep the windscreen with the wipes first then use with clean water for an initial silicon layer
  7. Yeah you would like to think but on this occasion no - He is an aspiring Tom Cruise - Cocktail not Top Gun, he got back in at 04:00 in the morning from his shift and was back at work 12 hours later so he was well asleep, one of the challenges, he works strange shifts and I work away. He has spent some time with me twirling spanners so servicing etc he is now doing on his own but troubleshooting not so much 😊
  8. This depends what it is plus what type of parts you use to maintain the motor. The RX does not have a turbo so one less element to go wrong, Had mine now about 5 years, have serviced regularly and only replaced brake pads plus tyres and had a weeping bush on the fwd rear diff support bracket (replaced with an WRX alloy item from breakers & saved nearly a Kg in weight) the original exhaust has been replaced by a cat back SS cobra item, other than that the motor has not missed a beat and as approaching 90K I would consider replacing the headgaskets as preventative maintenance as the OEM subaru items are not made from great material. I suppose only other thing to consider for aesthetics is a wheel refurb, or get a set of steels?
  9. Think this chap has not really committed to the forum 😁

Depending on mileage since plugs changed (10k or so) good to check / change. Depends on the tool they use not all will throw up the fault codes also if you had better octane fuel in the tubes at the time it may not show an error?
  11. Not sure the standard radio did was a pretty basic radio and cd unit, I have one on a shelf somewhere from a previous upgrade, ill see if I can get it wired up to a battery I have lying around and test it, mind you I may even have a manual around to check first....
  12. Wotcha and welcome - have the arches been rolled? If not this could be an option?
  13. Have been a couple of times but too many things on this year - didn't even manage to make the charity run on Sunday as I was under my lads colt sorting brakes and wheels out 😞
  14. careful its addictive..... but keep a camera handy and feel free to create a build thread 😁
  15. TDR know their stuff 👍
  16. Depends on what you would like out of your motor. I would suggest a a good bespoke map, I am also completing the cooling mod to protect No4 cylinder as well. If you plan on doing track days look at: baffle for the sump, oil cooler oil pickup rubber attachment Petrol surge / lift tank with fuel pressure regulator
  17. Hi - I believe the hands free kit incl mic was a dealer option. No, music cannot be played its purely a phone connection
  18. Not heard of this one before - hopefully someone may have experienced it also

They are not but takes a fair few miles for the ECU to 'learn' the drop in octane - It may not just be the drop in octane though that is affecting the performance - I have noticed increased amounts of Ethanol being included in pump fuel now
  20. Fingers crossed for you!!
  21. The mic in mine is wired in as part of a hands free telephone kit - I do not know if this activates the bluetooth element or not sorry. WRT the screen & RCA I can connect an audio device via a convertor and after you have select aux as an input you then select the info button on the right hand side to get the mpg back on the screen

Seen this all over social media - Great that the chap survived, only watched footage on my phone so cannot call too much on reasoning, distraction etc but I agree the conditions and the road etc all look perfectly manageable - looking at the footage though I didn't think the corner as that 'blind' but it is easy to be the arm chair commentator. The driver got a stiff sentence - justifiable - It makes even more of a mockery of the sentences dished out to the car and bike thieves we appear to be plagued with currently
  23. I have received no additional response form Scooby Clinic. They have already formal stated any liability is between myself and the dealer so I know it will definitely be down to me to address. I had spoken to the dealer before xmas and shared my expectations of him in this instance which would be cost of labour for the rebuild and cost of a new set of Cosworth or equivalent capable head gaskets - This I thought was fair. I will be getting a quote for the rebuild labour sent so I can have that discussion with him outside of the rest of the build communications.
  24. There is a reason for that - once open exposure to the atmosphere means it will start absorbing moisture. Two bottles will be enough but if you get 3 and you only open one at a time so your waste is reduced and you have some for the future. OPIE oils Miller 5.1 use the SUBOC discount code for 10% - sorted 👍 (I used Shell for years as I trusted it with my bikes - now use Millers where possible as a UK manufacturer)
