  1. With car on ramp through the crumbling heat wrap you could see exhaust deposits - pulled it off to do a bit of welding and found this - yup that would blow a little 😀 New blanket on shopping list
  2. Done about 2k with the car now and its clear its been sat for some time as there are a few things that need attention - one of them is teh black stuff on teh drive that is supposed to be on the inside of the engine cases..... The first one was the oil pressure sensor mount that had come loose - cleaned, thread locked and tightened should sort that - now I have to find the other. I ended up pulling the turbo off to access the many plugs behind it but it looks like it is coming from the top of the engine and flowing down the back. What are the potential points of leakage I should be looking for as I pull off the pipework - hoping its a breather that has come off 🐵
  3. I think the manual says 50K I did my last car at 40K and have my current one booked in to do it at 39K but that is partly piece of mind as it is an unbranded belt that I do not know the history of and given the royal spanking the motor will get in the near future I dont want to be concerned about the basics
  4. check for play in joints as suggested then get an alignment check done - check tyre pressures also - too high and this will cause them to slide and spin up easier

that sounds positive - hopefully he can hook you up
  6. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to start your own threads etc, particularly if you have specific questions
  7. Nice one thanks - just waiting for bits now and need to find where this oil is coming from.... will post that in another thread though
  8. Checked in with the mechanic who will be doing the CV boot in a couple of weeks..... He will also be replacing the unbranded cam belt with a cosworth item, replacing the water pump with a cast non cavitation wheel item and installing an uprated RCM oil pump. Just too many unknowns for me - paranoia was too much, when I do hit the track ill be happier in myself 😀 Some used but working bits will be for sale in 3 weeks time 👍

In the harness adaptor did you get the steering wheel control loom as well?
  10. I dont think you will have an issue finding a home for that motor
  11. unequal headers and replace the standard exhaust middle section with straight through pipework - had the prodrive backbox on mine which had a non obtrusive sound but you could replace the standard backbox as well if you need more volume
  12. cheers - that will do for me then
  13. Ok all - have done a bit of research and there are mixed views on this so thought I would canvas your good selves. I am looking at installing an oil temperature sensor as I believe currently the map and subsequent output to the Toucan unit in place is just set at 120ºC I have an oil pressure sensor installed at the galley point top front of engine under the alternator (Accessed to sort a leak) I have access to the galley point rear of engine under the turbo (Accessed to sort another leak) and can install one there I will also be installing a sandwich plate for an oil cooler which could take an oil and or pressure sensor in the not too distant future. I dont intend modifying the sump to fit one there So peoples opinions on best place to take off an oil temperature reading Cheers
  14. I have an SG Motorsports AOS fitted - keeps it all tidy, just need to watch it doesnt rub on your FMIC pipework https://www.tuningworx.com/untitled-sitepage_20
  15. Wotcha and welcome - looks like it needs some tlc and a bit of recommissioning but it is a drivers car so if you enjoy your driving I would hold onto it
