Need guidance on this project please!
the colour around the ring is not consistent and what is there is a bit black indicating could be running rich but nothing too serious probably errs on the side of engine protection / safety... Spark plug colour guide http://www.wallaceracing.com/plug-reading-lm.html the white tip could be an indication of over heating plug - included a thread for info http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/557952-possible-spark-plug-overheating

cant tell with the white stuff but I like my plugs to be more of a dark brown shade, its not oily so that is good, do you have an air oil separator fitted?

What did you do to your XV today???
The discs are probably a common platform item, one thing modern car manufacturers tend to do for cost / economy of scale / standardisation etc is have a single platform across 3 or 4 cars with just the top bit looking different

Owners age
47 going on 8 - whilst approaching the 50 I very much realise age is a state of mind our predecessors didnt have the options, toys or health we have so long may it continue

yup around 1 bar is standard - obviously dependant on engine / turbo condition that may vary

interesting article on air filters oem vs performance
Very interesting - thanks for sharing, I would be interested to replicate those pressure drop experiments with more filters across the range to include oil free varieties. Nothing to do with the research but they could do with addressing the layout of the main text, increase the line spacing and put a whole space between paragraphs - massive wall of words made it quite hard to get through.

Advice please
Are you feeling a surge under acceleration, do you have a boost gauge, is it registering anything? it should be noticeable - if not it might be that your turbo is just free-wheeling with the actuator holding the bypass open?

Advice please
Wotcha and welcome - did your brothers bug have a different induction kit fitted? An aftermarket kit should give you the noise you are looking for. http://scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=47_66_611

Coilovers question
- you could get adjustable damping if spent a little more on the struts, that will make a difference on the roads as when on the hardest setting they can be very firm

Afterburner sports cat and heat wrapping
Agreed - cat does not have to be visible - I know some places are going looking for DPF's (didnt help that idiot reporter who clearly had no idea about the workings of an engine exposed a load of mot garages that were not checking it) but as far as cats are concerned it was purely related to emissions if it is within tolerance then there is no problem cat or no cat

Hello
Wotcha and welcome - I have seen JDM import STI's with auto boxes and paddle shifts not seen any UK WRX autos just the NA engine versions here is a saloon on ebay - if the setup is similar to mine you will be able to get paddle shifters for it as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STI-A-LINE-JDM-Sedan-2-5l-300HP-with-Quickshift-gear-box-/322418309582?hash=item4b11a0f9ce:g:0ZkAAOSwmLlX9WKH

Coilovers question
As above if you are doing most of your driving on the road go for uprated shocks and springs.

Headlamp levelling part rear
the VIN might not work as it is a US site - means a bit of trawling through the parts diagrams. Pole position, Subaru City, Midland Scooby Spares all break cars regularly and are on facebook

Headlamp levelling part rear
There are various breakers around the country that may have one in - check this link to see if the part number is the same as other years http://estore.subarupartswarehouse.com/Subaru_2006_Impreza25L-5MT-4WDPremium-Sedan_Subaru2005-2009.html

Alternator issues?
Was it a new aftermarket item or from a broken motor? Should last you longer than a year if it was a new aftermarket replacement. Have you checked the voltage across the battery terminals when car is running, are you belts all in good order - not slipping?

WRX vs WRX PPP
dependant on model from a performance perspective the ppp pack tends to be freer flowing intake using panel filter or in some cases a different tube a freer flowing cat back exhaust or back box and a remap - the link has the Prodrive details http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/index.php/prodrive/
