  1. Smaller donut gasket arrived so fitted the cobra WRX - S exhaust and went for test drive, 20 miles round trip - filled up with v power
  2. this might be worth a look the EJ22 is a good solid block https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-EJ22T-Closed-Deck-Engine-Block-2-35-on-97mm-Bore/332850225138?hash=item4d7f6b5ff2:g:bbAAAOSwElxbzk~9:rk:9:pf:0
  3. I have used a tape measure and some masking tape on a wall before and then adjusted accordingly- save going to a garage but depends on convenience I suppose. A suggestion, is there a headlight levelling dial on your dash for when towing? If so is that set incorrectly?
  4. Wotcha and welcome - according to the EBC info the rear caliper is an Akebono with the front being Tokico. EBC full listing https://www.ebcbrakeshop.co.uk/info-brake-parts?make=SUBARU&year=2010&model=Outback&engineSelect=2.5+(165)&engine=2.5&bhp=165 an ebay option for the basic - ultimax option https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-ULTIMAX-REAR-PADS-DP1584-FOR-SUBARU-FORESTER-2-0-2008-2013/121478282541?_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20151005190705%26meid%3D0838441340814ab281236185562d7122%26pid%3D100506%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26%26itm%3D121478282541&_trksid=p2045573.c100506.m3226
  5. Would you consider an additional light bar and a more offroad look, seen this type of thing on vans and cars by me (not quite as remote as yourself but quite in the sticks) I used these for a real improvement to the standard Subaru offering Equivalent to 150W https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-100w-super-white-natural-glass-bulbs-h1-h3-h4-h7-9004-9005-9006-9007/ Equivalent to 100W https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-12v-55w-super-white-hid-class-upgrade-bulbs-h1-h3-h4-h7-h8-h9-h10-h11-h12-h13-h15-h16-9004-9005-9006-9007-9011-9012/ Mounted to grills and roof by me cheap option ttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Work-Light-12W-18W-27W-36W-48W-72W-LED-Car-Boat-Offroad-Lamp-SUV-ATV-12V-24V/252530922364?hash=item3acc04137c:m:miYE8Vu4v-8iiCsFObIhzeg:rk:33:pf:0 high quality but more expensive option https://www.lazerlamps.com/home/lights
  6. It was slightly tongue in cheek 😋 - the legacy and the outback are the same platform but the outback has longer springs to give the lift - what i don't know is if the outback springs would be a straight swap to your model
  7. Wotcha and welcome - maybe some outback springs as well to jack it up a little 😉
  8. just fitting the exhaust now - Cobra stainless, it is listed as WRX - S fitment but it is a match for the NA but with a larger diameter bore - 52.5mm to 63.5mm OD so will be interesting to see if there is an improvement
  9. Changing the exhaust - not many listed for this motor being an NA so after quite a few weeks researching took a punt on one for a WRX - S, turbo but single exhaust outlet. Opted for the Cobra one as full stainless, good price point and not too loud. Turns out it is compatible. There is a single difference and this is the donut gasket between cat section and main system. The WRX S has a larger bore pipe so the inner diameter of the donut supplied by Cobra is 66mm where the RX is 60mm - the outside diameters are the same so if you can get away with the gasket not disintegrating (mine did) a bit of exhaust gum and you can reuse. If not ebay can get you a replacement
  10. It might be worth pinging Subaru and seeing if they can do a flash load to the standard ECU via post link for info http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/index.php/prodrive/sacc2811.html
  11. Without seeing the kit itself I believe shms to be correct. The wire labelled as reversing sensor should take a 12v feed from your reversing light cct this tells that head unit that you have selected reverse You could also wire the red to the same cct or have a switch on the dash Black is ground / earth http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/412138/kenwood-kvt-524dvd.html?page=4
  12. As above - limited manufacturing run, a remap would be the best solution - why does it need to be a 340R ECU as the Prodrive map is ok but nothing special - the ECUTEK option gives more functionality, flat foot shifting, launch control as well as the power increase
  13. Wotcha and welcome - do you have a preference, would you like open block, semi closed or fully closed block?
  14. Not had that myself - car mat clear of lever? - if there is a spring as well, could it be that catching on something?
  15. Lovely example - good luck with the sale
  16. The problem with them being stuck open is it lets moisture back in which leads to corrosion - IMO I would remove and blank as you have suggested
  17. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to start a project thread to share your progress
  18. Wotcha and welcome - looks like quite a bit of time and effort has been spent on that motor, will be great to have it on the road again 👍
  19. Wotch and welcome - seems like some straight forward issues to resolve - keep us posted. I get a lot of my parts from ICP https://www.importcarparts.co.uk/
  20. Wotcha and welcome - that looks like a pristine example, plenty of knowledge, opinions, lunacy on here but all friendly so feel free to get stuck in. A few also own / have owned bikes, I throttled right back on roads particularly after doing some track time where it became very apparent just how quick you could go.
  21. Wotcha and welcome. Currently running a 2.0 RX auto myself - as it was supposed to be going to the in laws I have not tinkered very much although a recent low speed rear ending has meant a replacement exhaust is on the way - I opted for a Cobra, they don't list one for the RX on their site but after some research comparing photos etc I took a punt on the WRX S option. Ill let you know if it is a straight forward installation. As it is an NA car I opted for a K&N panel to keep the existing airbox intact, I believe 150bhp is conservative and a remap would definitely improve the drive across the rev range - particularly as the car performs noticeably better as the temperature drops. As the bang for buck ratio is not great on an NA the only other power mods I had considered where lumpier cams (along with pipe filter and map) Brakes I found give better feel than the STI i had previously (they were very wooden) but they fade very quickly with spirited use - I flushed with dot 5.1 as service stage anyway but braided hoses would again improve the situation and then better vented discs. One thing I have found is the amount of body roll while pushing on in the twisties - the chassis is fine for where it will end up (transporting pensioners) but for example the rear ARB is 10mm in diameter - pretty sure this is half the size of the STI but for a similar weight of motor. Feel free to create a project thread to keep track of your mods - subtle or otherwise 😉
  22. Wotcha and welcome - your english is way better than my Italian - start a problem thread in the Impreza section and we can try and help
