check coil packs my classic had a ICV code turned out to be a cracked coil pack.

Have you checked for fault codes? If it doesn't throw up any codes it's prob a faulty coil pack. My classic was running a bit lumpy and after replacing coil packs it ran much better.

The only places I can recommend are a bit of a drive, Dan at Surrey Subaru Specalists in Camberly or Len at Subaru4you in Newbury, both would require a fair drive but worth the trip. Len has done a clutch for me and Dan has done a fair few bits on my classic when when I had it.

Heres mine just after cleaning it elbow grease no steam :) Good tip clean the engine before the body!!! Products used: R222 Total auto wash (Non-toxic) & 303 Aerospace Protectant http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/r222-total-auto-wash-cat2.html http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/303-aerospace-protectant-cat19.html Shop around can be got cheaper than links R222 Total auto wash. 1. apply this liberally to your engine compartment, ensuring anything sensitive to liquid is covered obviously (cone air filters etc) - Leave for 5 mins after spraying (do not allow to dry) then agitate with a brush/sponge etc while removing with a light water spray. 2. Leave engine bay to dry, or dry manually with a soft cloth. 303 Aerospace Protectant 3. Apply this liberally to all surfaces within the engine bay, plastics, metals, the lot - Allow to dry - 1-4 hours. Ignore what the product labelling says about wiping on with a cloth and polishing off...just spray ensuring a good coverage and leave. 4. Cup of tea. 5. remove any overspray on non-engine bay paintwork, or windscreen with a soft cloth. 6. Another Cup of tea cos you're done. Start with a warm engine as it helps the 303 to dry quicker. Try not to get too much oversrpay on exterior paint, as it will remove most polish systems also. Won't harm the paint though. There are far more scoobs around than there ever were Integrales, cosworths or quartos, it's the lower production numbers of these cars that make them a classic. It's only going to be limited editions that will keep their value, rb5s, series McRae and unmolested P1's from the classic era that I think will be the true classics, UK turbos and wrx's are 2 a penny so I doubt they will ever be a classic worth keeping hold of.

Nope they are off an STI and are not part of any performance pack I'm aware of. A PPP pack is an upgraded back box, centre pipe and remap, doesn't included a brake upgrade.

I got loads made up last year and we used them at the show. Sold out though :( worked out to about £10.50 a set from what I remember. Glauson works for the company that made them for us, I dare say we can can organise some more but Im not in a postion to oder them and hang on to them untill they are all sold. So it may be a case of ordering direct as you all want them. I'll dig out the relevant stuff when I get home.

Time to get another car me thinks. You may spend upto 3k getting a rebuild and that's the engine sorted, but then in a years time it'll be something else that needs sorting. If the car is sellable I'd sell it on and get a new car.

I would drain and refill the cooling system, it's cheap and easy to do and may well solve the problem.

Yeah as Jay said its far more than just an engine. You'd be better off just selling the 1.5 and getting a WRX or STI.

If its recently had the system drained to replace the thermostat it's more likely an air lock. If there's no mayo in the water it's doubtful it's the head gasket. The scoob is notorious for getting airlocks, so I reckon this is the most likley cause. Drain and refill the system and I reckon that will cure it.

Mine was PPP'd so it's a Prodrive cat back system.

I resprayed the triangle bit that fits to the a pillar on mine. You just need to take the door card off, remove the tweeter and that gives you access to the 3 bolts that hold the mirror to the a pillar. The only issue I had was that the multi plug didn't fit through the hole in the a pillar so I had to cut the wires. Refitting meant resoldering the wires back on to the multi plug.

All 4 near me have worked on loads of my local clubs members Cars, and I've used all 4 myself. I wouldn't go anywhere else tbh.

I'm lucky that I'm within 30 miles of 4 top Subaru specialists. If I wasn't so lucky to have them pretty local, I'd always ask for recommendations before taking the car anywhere.
